Once upon a time, I was driving down the 580, in a hurry, because anytime you go to The City you are always in a hurry. Trying to get through traffic and balancing that desire with the reality of the car I was driving was capable of about 55mph on a steep downhill. With a tailwind.
We came around a bend and in the right lane, driving at about 40mph, with his hand on the window and just looking as cool as the other side of the pillow, rode a Corvette. A beautiful blue Corvette. Just cruising slowly in the slow lane, not a care in the world.
And you just knew that he was thinking that IF he wanted to, he could blow everybody’s doors off and go like a bat out of hell. He didn’t need to, because he could. And we all knew that he could.
Since that day, my dream car, the car I will buy if I ever win the lottery or happen to come into a few hundred thousand dollars for doing nothing, is the blue Corvette. Standard transmission, sunroof, and all the amenities.
And then this guy figured out a way to make it even better…
